    EVOLUTION OF THE MURAL

    Original design concept

      THE BUILDING AS CANVAS

      About the mural

Sunlit Redwood Forest, a stunning mural painted by local artist, Ryan Grossman covers the west and south facing corners of our building, at McPherson & E. Redwood Ave.

A community sponsored project initiated and co-sponsored by the Redwood Forest Foundation, Inc. (RFFI) it was realized in 2022 through the generous dedication of the Alleyway Art Project, who brought together an array funding. We also thank the Arts Council of Mendocino as fiscal sponsors, The City of Fort Bragg and other local donors.

The Forrester Building, (named after Cynthia’s grandparents), has become the backdrop for this wonderful depiction of a thriving forest by local artist, Ryan Grossman. As owners of this building and cheerleaders for the growing artist community in Fort Bragg, we are honored to be selected for this mural, not just for the beauty of it’s design, but because the  message it represents. It speaks directly to RFFI’s mission to restore the natural diversity and wellbeing of our local ecosystems and our own vision of community as a ecosystem itself that thrives on interconnection. Find out more about their important work along the North Coast, click here to visit their website.

Public art is transformational. The impact of this mural is already being felt in our neighborhood as folks have stopped by to appreciate the work-in-progress. It’s a dream coming true to see others engage through art in ways that create more meaning for all.
